Unofficial results from the Passaic County Clerk on Wednesday morning show that the County Freeholder Board retained a full Democratic membership while voters sent William Pascrell, Jr. and Frank Lautenberg back for another term.
Sixty percent of Passaic County votes went to President-elect Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and running mate Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, while 39 percent favored the Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona and running mate Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.
Voters in the 8th Congressional District re-elected incumbent Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D) to his seventh term and New Jersey voters re-elected incumbent Frank Lautenberg (D) to his fifth term as a state senator.
Passaic County voters re-elected incumbent Democrats Greyson Hannigan and Bruce James to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Hannigan received 85,795, votes, James 86,523, while Republican challengers Jerry Holt received 60,574 and Michael Marotta 62,697.
The majority of County voters said "yes" to Public Question 1, approving an amendment to the State Constitution that would require voter approval for the State to borrow money. However, voters said "no" to Question 2, rejecting a constitutional amendment that would change the way joint municipal court judges are selected.
