Residents run in NYC Marathon

A plethora of Clifton residents participated in the New York City Marathon last weekend.

Among the 38,356 runners were 12 Cliftonites many of who finished in the top 20,000. Forty-seven year old Yukihiko Negoro was the first local to cross the line with a time of 3:02:27 for 1,114th place. Andrew Ward averaged a 7:48 mile and crossed the line in 3:24:33 for the 3,524th spot while Joseph Fego was close behind in the 3,928th position with a total time of 3:26:50.

George Roa finished the 26.2-mile course in 3:44:40 for the 8,002nd spot followed by Doris Fego and her 12,753rd finish in just under four hours at 3:59.08.

With his time of 4:14:21, Paul Dubbels finished in 17,355th position as Traudel Burwik recorded a time of 4:15:38 for the 17,772nd spot.

Clifton High School and recent Harvard graduate Jaclyn Pangilinan rounded out the Clifton finishers in the top 20,000 with her time of 4:19:51 for the 19,039th position. Pangilinan is a veteran swimmer who was a member of the Philippines National Swim team in the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Tina Cervasio of Clifton had a time of 4:24:13 for the 20,381st spot while Allison Cohen recorded a finish of 4:33:16 for the 23,084th position.

The final two Clifton residents to cross the line were Ben Rothke and Gregory Ross who had time of 5:46:29 for the 34,972nd spot and 6:00:04 for 35,764th respectively.

The Clifton Roadrunners Club also participated in the marathon as 20 members ran the course. Mark Snyder was the top finisher with his time of 3:02:07 for 1,088th place followed by Feliciano Pereira’s 3:17:24.

Hector Echeverry crossed the line with a time of 3:28:03 as 65 year-old Martin Fritzhand earned a time of 3:58:28.

Hector and Jaime Mantari had times of 4:01:05 and 4:12:00 respectively while 66 year-old William Ash recorded a time of 4:24:30. Mario Pelaez crossed the line in 4:19:29.

Annemarie Uebbing had a time of 4:29:23 as Maryanne Nealon recorded a 4:44:19 and Rodrigo Alvarez a 4:44:49. Karen Mantari finished in 4:55:52 followed by Dolores Rosen in 4:57:17 and Linda Stefanski in 5:22:33. Kim Stefanski ran a 5:22:33, Christian Vander Groef a 5:31:07, Chris Vander Groef 5:31:07 and Joe Saely a 5:35:50

Both Fego’s and Roas are also members of the Clifton Roadrunners.
