Blame people not deer
The article regarding some people complaining about the Garrett Mountain deer population is disturbing. These animals are struggling to find open spaces and all some people seem to care about is plants and shrubs they have. I recently had to help a baby deer that was frozen on the road with its mother trying to coax it to cross. I made sure it was able to cross the road before I left. Instead of blaming these animals that are just trying to survive, let’s look at the real culprits. Greedy land developers Hovanian builders. The Four Seasons adult community is not only unattractive, but was instrumental in the displacement of the deer population. Instead of looking to eliminate the deer how about trying to help them.

Bad press
Face it - were it not for 1. Her name (Sarah); 2. her party (Republican) and 3. her gender (female) there would be no question as to the qualifications of the governor from Alaska to be the next vice president of the United States. Many former vice-presidents and yes, even some presidents, didn't come near to what this governor has accomplished during her short political career, and yet were not subjected to the vile and vicious abuse by this current mean spirited TV and print media. This election is being rigged by the liberal media in favor of (Barack) Obama, a modern day "Robbing Hood" and there isn't a thing anyone can do about it. Give me a break.

Time to ruffle feathers
Go John McCain and Sarah Palin!
We need women and men who are willing to ruffle feathers in Washington.
All I can see with Barack Obama and Joe Biden is giving money to whomever they see fit. I assure you my kids are not on that list. We have no insurance and we pay as we go. We have no rich parents to bail us out of our financial problems so we pay as we go. We need a hospital, well then I am broke and my family will get help from Obama and Biden.
I don't believe that this will make my kids better off. It's always free for the "spread the wealth people." Obama and Biden are not out to make change for the middle class just make it easy for those not working to stay home and cry wolf. This kind of change will support the 40 percent so they can have medical and college and the working can have the bill government approved. We all go to the same public school system so why can't all American's be responsible for their kids and themselves. Everything we do is work, give up and it's over.

Repeating a mistake
Once a generation we make a really, really bad mistake. The last time that happened was when we elected Jimmy Carter president. Those of us who were around remember we had to invent the misery index to measure how bad things really were. And, it sure looks like we could be headed for a real whopper of a mistake this election.
If we're lucky, history will repeat itself and someone with the stature of Ronald Reagan will arrive on the scene who'll lead us out of the next four years of misery into another 20 years of peace and prosperity.

Different kinds of fish
Hi all, let's make this simple: A Republican will give you a fishing pole and bait to catch the fish, but a Democrat wants to just give you the fish without spending the hours of work to catch your own!

Hang on to your wallets
Barack Obama's proposed spending spree will conservatively cost each American family between $2,000 to $4,000 in increased taxes. But, wait, with "Obamanomics" only American families making $250,000 or more will have to pay. That works out so some American families will be paying between 90 percent and 140 percent of every dollar they earn in taxes. Apparently Obama hasn't really thought this thing through.
Or, maybe he has. He just wants to spread the wealth. In the words of Karl Marx, he wants to take from each according to his abilities and to give to each according to his needs. With Obama as president you better hold on to your wallet if you have any kind of ability whatsoever.

Scary decorations
There is a house on Grove Street and Robin Hood right on the corner that seems to stand out every holiday by being overly decorated around Christmas and Halloween. On this corner of Grove and Robin Hood where Route 3 has an exit and entrance ramp, getting out into traffic is hard enough, but now people stop in their cars and block traffic to look. Some people are double parking making it even harder to get out on to Grove from Robin Hood.
There have been some minor accidents and I think there should be some type of ordinance curbing such massive decorating. I am not against doing it, but in an area such as Grove Street where traffic is bad enough, come on people, have some common sense and let’s make it easy for everyone.

Happy Halloween
Tonight, tonight is Halloween when ghosts and goblins may be seen emerging now from in between the world of substance and of dream. Invoke the presence of the beast as vampires gather for their feast. Take thee a sip of sanguine wine, the fruit is bleeding on the vine. Come dance around the sacred fire, spirits leap, as flames grow higher. Summon the monster from within. On this night we revel in sin. Demons laugh and the werewolves howl. The walking dead are on the prowl but do not fear but all is well, hell is heaven, heaven is hell. Haunt your house with a spooky aire; come join the party if you dare for Halloween is here once more. Now scare the children at your door.

No need to get personal
Do you know what gets to me Anna Marie Altamura – you self-righteous prude? That I have never said a malicious word against you personally, but you have continuously made malicious and personally insulting remarks about my family and myself.
If I choose to attack the lead character in your popularly held mythology or if I choose to oppose the religious paradigm based on the metaphorical archetype that you have chosen to animate, then that is my right. No need to get personal about things, madam. I have addressed many values that differ from those of you who belong to these Abrahamic messiah cults. But it sounds like the offense that you take to my beliefs is based on your being obsessively hung up about someone that does not subscribe to the puritanical restrictions imposed by your religious institutions. Forgive me but I think that you are the one with moral issues that interfere with your acceptance of diversity. But then again that has always been a problem with you monotheists. It is not that I lack moral limitations, it is just that I believe that people should follow their own consciences and not have morality imposed on them from an external authority. That kind of spiritual fascism is responsible for the weakening of our consciences in the first place.

Now walk the walk
I’m presently a member of the Board of Education. I was reading today, Oct. 24 that Frederick Rembis is very good at writing letters in the blame game, but does he offer any solutions? I often asked him in public why doesn’t he run for the Board of Education. If he knows so much – do it and maybe you can do a better job.

Same ol’ song
Once again we get the pronouncements of the aptly named Frank Warholic as if they were coming down from Mount Olympus. Sarah Palin used to be America’s Margaret Thatcher.
How about saying Palin would like to be America’s Margaret Thatcher or could Palin become the next Margaret Thatcher? Then we hear about the socialist, liberal Democratic Party. In the first place after eight years the total incompetence of a Republican administration Warholic shouldn’t be placing stupid labels on the Democrats. Warholic syntax makes you wonder if he ever took an English course in high school or read a book other than on military history. He calls Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi merchants of hatred. Look in the mirror, Warholic. Palin should adopt the words of John Paul Jones and Admiral Dewey according to Warholic. Can he write anything but military terms, about anything but hatred of Democrats?
